Seek God 1st, Then “Fear Not”

The scripture of the day from 2 of the 4 Bible apps I follow each day has the same verse. Maybe not a 1st but this certainly doesn’t happen very often.

From my YouVersion app,

Psalm 27:4 KJV One thing have I desired of the Lord , that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord , and to enquire in his temple.

As is mentioned in the Love Language Devotional Minute, Jesus too exhorted us to Seek God 1st,

Matthew 6:31-34 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

As the coronavirus continues to spread across the U.S. and is now in our state of Louisiana, we are reminded to keep the 1st thing always in the 1st place of our heart and mind. Our hope, faith and trust must be in God. It is only by keeping Him in 1st place that a steadfast confidence is built into our heart and mind to have NO Fear.

Joshua Aaron has a song that I like taken from Psalm 27 concerning a fearless life titled “Hoshiana.” Hoshiana is of Hebrew origin and means “Save I pray.” It is the equivalent of our english word Hosanna.

From Strong’s Concordance: 5614 hōsanná – a transliteration of the Hebrew term (hôsî-âh-nā) meaning “Oh, save now!” or “Please save!”

[The -na suffix in Hebrew expresses intense emotion. 5614 (hōsanná) comes from two Hebrew roots meaning, “Save now!” (= “Save I pray!”).]

Psalm 27 King James Version (KJV)
27 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.

5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

6 And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord.

7 Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.

8 When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek.

9 Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

10 When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.

11 Teach me thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.

12 Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.

13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

Our Dear Heavenly Father WILL strengthen our hearts if we make it a practise to dwell “in His Pavilion” daily.

Just to the right of my face in the pic, and always before my eyes was a card that said, “I Will Not FEAR!” with Psalm 27 printed beside it. I my 30 years of shrimping on my 42 ft Eva Marie there were many storms and troubles. 3 times my Eva Marie was directly hit by lightening. If you are ever in a thunderstorm and the hairs on your arm begin to rise up on end, GET READY!!! I learned that through experience. It’s about to Crack!!! with a loud blast of lightening!!! The last time it happened, I was disconnecting the antenna’s from my electronics so they wouldn’t get fried again and it STRUCK!!! My right arm and elbow hurt for a while but it got better. Since those times, I have NO FEAR of lightening. If God wanted to let lightening take my life, He had 3 opportunities. God has a plan for my life. He won’t bring it to an end until He’s ready. That reminds me of the other verse of the day from MyDailyBible app,

So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom.” (Psalms 90:12 NKJV)

Biblical “Faith” doesn’t mean to “throw caution to the wind” and live recklessly. As Psalm 90:12 says, we should use and apply “wisdom” in everything we do. God can, if He so chooses, “give us a heart of wisdom” by bringing thoughts into our mind to walk in “wisdom.” That’s just another way of saying, we must daily walk according to the leading of the Precious Holy Spirit.

Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God
