Trees Speak Volumes

Maybe it’s just me and maybe it’s God’s Spirit in me but for some reason I notice trees. I guess many people do but for me, sometimes there’s a “follow up” to the things I notice about trees. Kinda like a tree that caught my attention one day as I was bringing the crew boat I was operating to the shipyard. Sometimes I would go over a year without having to make the trip to the shipyard so getting to notice these things had an element of “destiny” to them. The first picture was taken on November 28, 2012 and the second was taken on June 16, 2019. The odd shape of the tree originally caught my attention, then 7 years later erosion has caused its demise. A twisted life ending in destruction. Almost sounds like a parable Jesus told about the Sowing of Seeds.

Then there were the trees that came floating through the oilfield where I was working. The two pictures are taken 2 days apart. The horizontal tree that formed part of the cross had moved from the upper (small) part of the vertical tree to the lower (base) of the tree in the second picture. Through our oilfield with hundreds of wells and the open choppy seas of a cold front, and no telling what else, the sign of a cross stayed intact and was in my “destiny” to notice.

Seeing old rugged looking trees form a cross speaks volumes to a Christian that appreciates what Yeshua Jesus willingly purchased for them on such a thing. When I saw these, I prayed asking Father God what was I to discern from this. A thought clearly came to mind. “Don’t blindly follow or be distracted by anything, Keep Your Eyes On Jesus and The Cross.”

God uses trees as a metaphor to describe mankind really often in the Bible. God also uses the symbology of trees to describe the nations.

Psalm 1:1-3 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

THE VINE is a symbol of Israel’s Spiritual privileges. THE FIG-TREE is a symbol of Israel’s National privileges. THE OLIVE TREE is a symbol of Israel’s Religious privileges.

In Matthew chapter 24, the disciples ask Jesus three questions,

3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

Jesus tells them of

1.The appearance of the “ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION” (the “DESOLATOR”-Antichrist), spoken of by Daniel the prophet (Dan. 9:27) in the Holy Place of the rebuilt Temple at Jerusalem, as foretold by Paul in his Second Letter to the Thessalonians. 2 Thess. 2:1-4.
2. The “SIGN OF THE SON OF MAN,” which is a “CLOUD,” such as He disappeared in when He ascended. Acts. 1:9. Matt. 24:30.
3. The “FIG-TREE SIGN,” or the re-gathering of the Jews back to their own land. In connection with this “Sign” Jesus said-

The Parable of the Fig Tree
32 “Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors! 34 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

The Parable of the “Barren Fig-tree” (Luke 13:6-9) is picture of Israel. The “Fig-tree” is the Jewish nation. The owner of the Vineyard and of the Fig-tree was God. He came in the person of His Son Jesus, and for three years of Jesus’ ministry He had sought for fruit from the Jewish nation and found none. He therefore decided to cut down the tree.

The tree was not destroyed immediately, for intercession was made for it, and the day of grace was lengthened out for forty years, and then the “axe-man” Titus, at the head of the Roman Army besieged Jerusalem in A.D. 70, and Israel, the Fig-tree, was cut down.

The “Fig-tree” (Israel) was cut down but its root was not destroyed, the axe was only laid at the root of the “Tree” (Luke 3:7-9), the root itself was not killed or removed from the soil. It is clear then from the “Parable of the Fig-tree,” (Matt. 24:32-34), that a new tree will spring from the root, that is, the nation of Israel will revive, and when it shall reach the point where it shall “put forth leaves” then we shall have the “FIG-TREE SIGN” that Christ’s return is not far away. In this case the “Fig-tree” will bear leaves before it bears fruit, for Israel is to be revived nationally before she is converted.

For 2,000 years, Israel didn’t exist as a nation but about 70 years ago a shoot sprung up to grow and become what is now the powerful nation of Israel.

I wrote a post earlier this year about how God used our fig tree to bless us with an unusual amount of figs. So many that I made quite a few jars of fig preserve, something I had never done. God used those figs to bless us and a good friend of mine who “popped up” out of the blue after not seeing or hearing from him for many years. That post is here, When Odd Things Happen, Look For God.

To bring you up to date concerning our fig tree, it has taken a turn for the worst. In November we had an unusually cold, cold front. A cold front in late November is not uncommon for our area, even one that gets close to freezing in the low 30’s. I remember them clearly because often, right at Thanksgiving, one of these first strong cold fronts would come along and cause the shrimp to bunch up. When you found them, usually you would be knee deep in shrimp and fill up a shrimp boat in just a couple days. This one was more severe than that though. The temperatures got to the mid 20’s and below freezing for a couple days. That’s something I don’t remember happening before.

Anyway, on about the last day of the below freezing temperatures, when I went outside to look around and enjoy the cold crisp winter air I noticed this,

Maybe to most people this would be nothing more that a sad event because of the death of a fruitful fig tree, but not for me. The loss of the tree because of it’s value was important to me but that’s not what my mind went to. I was looking at a symbol of Israel and it was not a good one. What I saw and my mind went to was a divided Israel. God’s Word gives warnings about anyone that would divide “His Land.”

God Judges the Nations
Joel 3:1-2 “For behold, in those days and at that time,
When I bring back the captives of Judah and Jerusalem,
2 I will also gather all nations,
And bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat;
And I will enter into judgment with them there
On account of My people, My heritage Israel,
Whom they have scattered among the nations;
They have also divided up My land.

Jesus foretold that Israel would be cut down as a nation and it was. Jesus and the Word of God, (One in the Same) also said that a time would come when the people of Israel would would be regathered to their homeland, “bring back the captives of Judah,” and it was!!!

The topic of dividing Israel is a high priority on my radar concerning the progression of Bible prophecy. Donald Trump and his son in law Jared Kushner have touted the coming “Deal of the Century” since his election. They have had to postpone the release of it’s details over and over because they have decided to wait until the election in Israel reaches it’s final outcome. Oddly enough, that too is a unique event. Never before has Israel had to have two elections to get their government established after the election. Now it appears they will need to have yet a 3rd election with the hopes of getting a government established. But God is sovereign and just as when the Jews of Jesus’ day had said they would wait until after the Passover Feast to get rid of Jesus, God’s agenda superseded theirs.

Mark 14:1-2  After two days it was the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take Him by trickery and put Him to death. 2 But they said, “Not during the feast, lest there be an uproar of the people.”

Even the high priest had words of God put in his mouth to speak that were prophetic,

John 11:49-52  And one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all, 50 nor do you consider that it is expedient for us that one man should die for the people, and not that the whole nation should perish.” 51 Now this he did not say on his own authority; but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation, 52 and not for that nation only, but also that He would gather together in one the children of God who were scattered abroad.

So I watch and wait to see when and what will be the “Deal of the Century” because I’ve read that it includes Israel giving up part of Jerusalem and parts of Israel for this “deal” to go through. This last week, on Friday December 6th, our congress passed a motion that says Israel must divide their land.

It really doesn’t matter if the election in Israel gets settled because God’s Word says that He is the Sovereign of the universe. He puts thoughts in men’s minds and words in their mouths to speak according to His Perfect Will. Concerning the last days and the coming battle of Armageddon, God’s Word says He will put “Hooks In Their Jaws” and He will recompense the nations for the way they have acted towards His Word, Sovereignty and Will…

Ezekiel 38:1-12 Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 2 “Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal, and prophesy against him, 3 and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I am against you, O Gog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal. 4 I will turn you around, put hooks into your jaws, and lead you out, with all your army, horses, and horsemen, all splendidly clothed, a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords. 5 Persia, Ethiopia, and [c]Libya are with them, all of them with shield and helmet; 6 Gomer and all its troops; the house of Togarmah from the far north and all its troops—many people are with you.

7 “Prepare yourself and be ready, you and all your companies that are gathered about you; and be a guard for them. 8 After many days you will be visited. In the latter years you will come into the land of those brought back from the sword and gathered from many people on the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate; they were brought out of the nations, and now all of them dwell safely. 9 You will ascend, coming like a storm, covering the land like a cloud, you and all your troops and many peoples with you.”

10 ‘Thus says the Lord God: “On that day it shall come to pass that thoughts will arise in your mind, and you will make an evil plan: 11 You will say, ‘I will go up against a land of unwalled villages; I will go to a peaceful people, who dwell [d]safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates’— 12 to take plunder and to take booty, to stretch out your hand against the waste places that are again inhabited, and against a people gathered from the nations, who have acquired livestock and goods, who dwell in the midst of the land.

God, Himself will not do evil because He is ONLY Good but God will use those who are disposed to evil, who have chosen evil over good to accomplish His purposes. It was clear in the Exodus of Israel, the crucifixion of Jesus, the destruction, regathering, and restoration of Israel. The plan to kill Jesus was in the heart of the Pharisees. God orchestrated their plot according to His Perfect Plan and Purpose. Jesus said this of His 12 disciples,

John 6:70  Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?” 71 He spoke of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, for it was he who would betray Him, being one of the twelve.

Jesus didn’t cause Judas to be a greedy thief and sell out the Son of God but “Knowing” what his choices would be chose him to accomplish His and the Father’s purpose. There’s a Bible verse that speaks of a “predestination” of what a person’s life will become. The predestination is NOT God causing the end result but solely due to the “choices” of the individual which God is fully aware of before they are even born.

Romans 9:22  What if God, wanting to show His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, 23 and that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory, 24 even us whom He called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?

You can’t be neutral, a choice to not side with the Word of God is a choice against God. If you are not a sold out for Jesus child of the Living God at this time don’t refuse the leading and conviction of the Holy Spirit of God that leads you to turn, Repent of your sinful ways and turn to Him wholeheartedly. The danger of refusing is that each time you refuse, it will be easier to refuse the next time. Then the day will come when all you will be able to do is refuse because of a seared conscience and reprobate mind.

Hebrews 3:7-15 Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says:

“Today, if you will hear His voice,
8 Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion,
In the day of trial in the wilderness,
9 Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me,
And saw My works forty years.
10 Therefore I was angry with that generation,
And said, ‘They always go astray in their heart,
And they have not known My ways.’
11 So I swore in My wrath,
‘They shall not enter My rest.’ ”

12 Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; 13 but [b]exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, 15 while it is said:

“Today, if you will hear His voice,
Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”

I’ve written about this subject before, “Hanukkah, Peace Deal & 3rd Temple – The Rapture Is Imminent.”     This video is about a year old but still relevant,
