Finding Your Oasis In Elim

Exodus 15:27 KJV
And they came to Elim, where were twelve wells of water, and (70) threescore and ten palm trees: and they encamped there by the waters.

In all the turmoil this world has to offer God will lead us to our “Very Own Elim” places of Hope, Peace and Rest and ALL The More often when your heart is in the “Right Place.”

In my post 3 days ago about the deer that got blindsided by my truck and the cross made by a tree trunk and branch floating around in the bay where I work, I had the Bible verse of John 1:14 in it. It “just so happens” to be today’s DailyBible Verse of the day.

John 1:14
” And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14 NKJV)

We had a Northeaster cold front that blew through here Tuesday morning and all that night. When I went into the dock at 4:30 am Wednesday it was still choppy with a Northeast wind. I had switched over to working night shift Tuesday night for the next 7 days until this hitch is over.

So last night just before it got dark what do you think I saw floating through our oil field again?

The horizontal limb of the cross has moved to the thick end of the vertical tree trunk now. On the 25th it was much nearer the narrow top of the tree trunk.

Some things happen in life that if it were on a movie screen you might think, “yeah right” that’s almost impossible. What’s the odds that could happen randomly? BUT GOD is a miracle worker so Nothing is impossible with Him.  I believe God also uses oddities and common things to draw our attention to Him.

This story from CBN is an event like that.

‘God Is Awesome!’ Tornado Destroys House, but Prayer Closet Still Standing

Only their “Prayer Closet” was left and saved the whole family in it.

A “Prayer Closet” means they had a “Close” Relationship with Jesus BEFORE the tornado struck.

A couple days ago CBN retold the miraculous story of Angels defending Nigerian children about to be shot dead in a firing line

Saved By Jesus’ Angels

76 men, women and children, Nigerian Muslim- background Christians, were taken captive by an Islamist militant group, according to a Barnabas Fund contact.

The 76 were tortured at a Boko Haram terrorists’ camp. The four male leaders of the group were told at gunpoint to renounce their faith in Christ and revert to Islam. When they refused, holding fast to their Saviour, the men were shot in front of their families and friends.

The following week, the wives of the four martyred men were also ordered to renounce their faith or their children would be executed

As the mothers struggled under this terrible burden into the night, THE CHILDREN Came Running in and said that the Lord Jesus had Appeared To Them and “ALL WOULD BE WELL”. According to the account, the Lord Jesus then Appeared To ALL of the group and Told Them NOT To FEAR, that He Would Protect Them. They Should NOT Renounce Him, but STAY Strong Knowing that “He is The WAY, The TRUTH and The LIFE”

The next morning the children, one a girl as young as four, were lined up against a wall by the terrorists and their four mothers were told they could save them if they renounced Jesus Christ and returned to Islam. The mothers REFUSED

The soldiers cocked their rifles and prepared to take aim when they SUDDENLY Started to Grab at their Heads, Screaming and Shouting “Snakes, snakes!” Some ran away and Others DROPPED Dead Where They Stood

As one of the soldiers fell down dead, a Christian captive reached down to pick up the soldier’s gun to fire at the fleeing Boko Haram militants, But The YOUNGEST CHILD put her hand on his arm and said, “You DON’T Need To Do That. Can You NOT SEE The Men In White Fighting For Us?”

All 72 lives were spared and are now in a safe part of Nigeria. When their pastor was asked why Jesus appeared to them and not to others he replied, “He does not need to. You have over 200 versions of Scripture and many people able to explain the Bible to you. These people do not”

My understanding of what the Nigerian Pastor meant is they have the Holy Word of God, in one form and being taught one way. No debate on which version meant what. They Believe the Word as it’s Written. They were Muslim converts to Christianity. I understand that to mean they were probably “devoted followers” of Islam and would probably make “carnal christians” appear as kindergartener in their dedication and commitment to God.

Then there’s the project manager for our companies contract workers. His 18 year old son, Christian Roper was buried a week ago. He was shot several times by 4 clean cut looking young men in a robbery attempt in a gated community in the heart of Lafayette. Not much different than the four husbands and fathers of the Nigerian women and children Jesus appeared to. But for them, Angels dressed in white didn’t save them by killing the Boko Haram gunmen. They refused to renounce Jesus and convert back to Islam and were shot dead in front of their wives and children.

As I drove to work Wednesday afternoon  my heart was overwhelmed with Love and Gratitude for my Dear Heavenly Father because in the midst of all these horrific things going on in the world and even near me He makes His Presence Felt and Known by me. You see, He’s doing a wonderful thing in my home and marriage. It’s like all the loose ends and finishing touches are coming together and happening. Driving I  considered my blessed life I thought of comparing it to being at an oasis in the center of a huge desert.

My heart was already swollen with Love and Appreciation for the Blessings God pours into my life then I got another view of these mysterious trees. Somehow they’d been cast about by currents and waves or who knows what to form a cross for me to take note of. And they sweetened the waters where God pours financial blessings upon my life and those I help support.

There are some days God lets us really experience the fruit of living a life of faith in Him and for trying to live a life that’s pleasing to Him.

Exodus 15:25-27 KJVS
And he cried unto the Lord ; and the Lord shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them, [26] And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee.

[27] And they came to Elim, where were twelve wells of water, and threescore and ten palm trees: and they encamped there by the waters.

Jesus, Holy & Anointed One
