I John, Jesus Is The Light

The verses from 1 & 2nd John are the closing verses of today’s MyDailyBible devotions.

They are about the “Light” (Yeshua Jesus) and believers need to walk with Him.

Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?
Amos 3:3 NKJV

My favorite pastor says, “I have to agree with what God says because He doesn’t agree with anything I say unless I’m saying what He says”

James 4:13-16 says as much in these words,

13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; 14 whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. 15 Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” 16 But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.

A long way of saying “We must agree with God”. God answered prayers of those who were contrary to His will in the Bible letting them have their way. It never ends good for them. Balaam is a good example.

1 John

This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
I John 1:5‭-‬10 NKJV
My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him.
He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
I John 2:1‭-‬5 NKJV
